Nikhil Mehra
Wildlife and Architecture Photographer | Mentor | Co-founder of Santara Wilderness Safaris
My name is Nikhil Mehra, and I’m a wildlife and architecture photographer, mentor and the co-founder of Santara Wilderness Safaris. My journey with photography began with a deep appreciation for structure, detail and storytelling – something I explored extensively through architecture and event photography. Over the years, that passion let me into the wild, where I found a whole new world of stories waiting to be told through my lens.
I’ve been actively conducting photography tours for the past 3-4 years, working across different terrains and formats to bring people closer to their passion for photography and the natural world. Since last year, I’ve been leading wildlife photography tours alongside Shaun Michael Mavelil, combining our shared vision to create meaningful, affordable and immersive wildlife experiences.
Through Santara, I believe in guiding each participant not just through technical skills, but through deeper perspectives like helping them understand the story behind every frame. Whether in the heart of a jungle or in the middle of a bustling architectural marvel, I aim to find and share the beauty that often goes unseen
Shaun Mavelil

My name is Shaun Michael Mavelil, and I am a wildlife photographer driven by passion, purpose, and a deep-rooted love for the natural world. What began as a fascination with photography in 2016 soon evolved into something far more powerful – a calling. By 2017, I found myself drawn irresistibly to the wild, where I discovered not just subjects to shoot, but stories waiting to be told.
Since then, wildlife photography has become more than just a craft for me – it’s a way to connect people with the untamed beauty of nature, to inspire awe, and to raise awareness about the importance of conservation. I believe every photograph can speak louder than words and that a well-framed image can touch hearts, change minds and spark action.
Over the last five years, I’ve had the privilege of mentoring aspiring photographers and leading wildlife photography tours across some of the most breath-taking landscapes and reserves.
Through every expedition and every frame, my goal remains the same: To cell compelling stories of the wild, foster respect for wildlife, and contribute, in whatever way I can, to the preservation of these magnificent creatures. My love for animals isn’t just part of my work – it’s who I am, and it will always be.
